About this Project
Reading is one of the fundamental requirements in developing the cognitive prowess of children. It helps children to perform better academically. Due to high of books and lack libraries in many deprived communities in Sub-Saharan Africa, many children are denied the right to read. Hence, their academic performance is badly affected.

Kannia Foundation’s Reading Project seeks to address this problem through our free distribution of story books in deprived schools and communities. We believe that when we give children the opportunity to have access to free books, it can help them build a great future. We also believe that through this project, many children will learn how to read effectively.
Our research findings show that, many children do not read because they do not have access to books. Sadly, many of our community libraries where children can get books to read no longer exist. It is on this premise that Kannia Foundation is embarking on the Reading Project to distribute free books to children.

What makes our storybooks unique
The contents of all our storybooks are meant to improve a child’s life.
All our children’s storybooks have colourful illustrations to arouse a child’s interest to read.
All our storybooks have glossary to introduce new words to the child.
All our storybooks have moral lessons outlined at the end of the book to inspire the child to aspire.
All our storybooks have critical thinking questions to engage the child after reading.
All our storybooks have puzzles to improve the cognitive abilities of the child.
Kannia Foundation is embarking on the Reading Project as part of our contribution in achieving the Sustainable Development Goal on Quality Education. Under this project, we distribute free storybooks to children to encourage them to read. The feedback we have gotten ever since we started this project is amazing. Children have developed the habit of reading based on this project.
